SESAM’s Concept for a Safer Ladder
Using ladders at home or in the workplace can be risky. SESAM is introducing a new concept for an electrical platform ladder that is both easier to use, safer, and more versatile than traditional ladder types.
Ladders Are Risky. Falls Are Expensive.
Typical ladder types are all potentially dangerous. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in 2018, in the U.S. alone, there were more than 580,000 ladder-related injuries that required medical treatment. With treatment, time-off the job, and recovery time, ladder fall injuries can be expensive. Unfortunately, ladder fall injuries can also be fatal.
From 2011 to 2016, the most common sources of fatal workplace falls were ladders (836 fatal injuries) and roofs (763), according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Just having a ladder in the workplace can be a risk and a liability to a company.
The more a ladder is used in the workplace, the greater the risk and expected expense for the company. This is why SESAM is introducing a new concept for a portable, adjustable, electronic lift device we call the electronic platform ladder.
What Is the Electrical Platform Ladder
The electrical platform ladder consists of a support frame that houses a platform that can move up and down the frame at the touch of a button. This ladder concept allows the user to remain stable on a single platform while it is lifted to the top of the frame.
There is no need for stepping up or down. This is a major safety feature that also makes the product more useful to a wider range of users of varying physical abilities. Someone who may struggle climbing a traditional ladder, can easily step onto the electronic platform ladder and use the foot pedal controls to achieve the same reach and result with more comfort, control, and safety.
Operation
The electrical battery operated platform ladder can be controlled hands-free. While standing on the platform the user can control the lift by stepping on the control buttons installed on the platform itself. There are also lift control buttons on the frame of the device at ground level. This allows a bystander to operate the ladder from groundlevel.
Storage and Mobility
The concept design allows for ease of mobility. The frame has a low profile that can simply be folded and pushed to the side when not in use, taking up minimal space. Retractable wheels at the base allow for ease of movement across warehouse floors or department store stock rooms.
Size and Frame Functions
The electronic platform ladder concept has been developed into several different sizes that are suitable for use at home and in the workplace. Each ladder can be set up in an A-frame style, to be self-supported on flat ground, or the ladder can be extended out into a straight ladder form that doubles it’s height and can be leaned against a building or shelving system.
